In order to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the radical political changes in the former CSSR, Silver Rocket from Praha have released a compilation containing 11 great noisy guitar Rock bands from the Tchek Republic. The CD contains some already established acts in their home country like OTK or GNU, but also lots of newcomers. As none of those bands is very popular in Western Europe, Noiseworks Records from Germany licensed the CD for Germany and surroundings. Most of the present bands play an excellent, but classic kind of good old guitar Noise Rock (Waave, Point, Naquei Manou). More interesting are the bands that mix that kind of music with other styles. Lyssa and especially Lvmen play a kind of extreme Emo Core that goes deep under the skin. Lvmen's 13 minutes song '#1' reminds me a lot of Zorn, Germany's kings of Emo Core. The music by Slut is quite Tool orientated. Landmine Spring mix noisy riffs with Punk Rock melodies, what doesn't sound bad at all. One of my favourite tracks is 'Kusy Satu' by Deverova Chyba, a band which is sounding as complexe and weird as 2227. Only the last track by Psychia3 doesn't fit at 100% percent into the concept of this album. This music is rhythmic and tribal and doesn't even contain guitars. Not exactly my taste, but a cool outro for a great CD from the East. |
