Waterdown from Germany make big steps forward in their still young musical career. They were only formed in April 2000, but had already the opportunity to support Grade on their German tour in summer 2000. The musicians from Grade were very impressed by the young band and told their label Victory Records to sign them. So far about the small past of Waterdown, the present is a debut CD called 'Don't Kill The Boy On The First Date', released on Victory Records. Waterdown is an amalgamation of throaty harsh screaming and some of the most euphonic vocal melodies you can imagine. On most songs, Waterdown try to find a bridge between hard aggressive core and emo stuff, which is well done. But sometimes, they also like to be very melodic, as on 'Round Two'. But very extreme stuff like 'Not Today' isn't a problem either for Waterdown. But there are more surprises on this CD. 'Picketline' shows cool and groovy HipHop vocals and 'Etikette tötet' is a song with Germany lyrics. If you like Emocore, give Waterdown a chance. It's a very good debut they have produced, but there are still efforts to do to reach a quality of bands like BoySetsFire or Grade. The differences between Waterdown and their idols are still lying in the songwriting.
