Cypress Hill belong to the few Rap bands that also get accepted by a huge number of Rock and Metal fans, surely because they dare to play harder than most bands do. One of the band musicians, Sen Dog, likes it even harder and has already formed about ten years ago a band called 'SX-10'. Although this band has been existing for a whole decade, they only released at the end of 2000 the first CD called 'Mad Dog American'. Although Sen Dog sees SX-10 not as just a project but as a real band that even intends to tour, you can hear out that the musicians must have had a lot of fun while recording. The list of the guest musicians can be read as a kind of 'Who's Who?'; Everlast, Rude dog, Mellow Man and musicians of Downset and Cypress Hill were helping to create a kind of intense HC-Rap Crossover, drawing close parallels to Rage Against The Machine. Some songs are really hard like the opening track 'Heart Of A Rebel' or 'Gotta Get Away', some songs are very strong Rap orientated (Ryhme In The Chamber, Superstar Trip). The funniest track is a quite bizarre version of the famous Tequila song. The Gospel parody 'I'm Not Jesus' is quite interesting, too, the same can be said about the Hip Hop persiflage 'Punk Ass'. Not exactly the kind of music I'm usually listening to, but I suppose that Crossover fans may adore SX-10.
