Although the exagerated hype about True Metal is really very annoying, it sometimes happens that you may discover interesting bands of that kind. One of the few exceptions are Shadow Keep, a quite new band from England only founded in Spring 1999. What differences Shadow Keep from many other similar sounding bands is that their music somehow has a strong touch of eighties credibility. Early Queensryche or Fates Warning are the first comparisons going through my mind when I was first listening to the album. Especially astonishing is the high crystal clear voice of Belgian (!) singer Rogue M. You could really thing to have Geoff Tate or Crimson Glory's Midnight on vocals. Traditional guitar lines, dynamic double bass and technically bass lines are trademarks of good old fashioned Progressive Metal. Even the fans knew to appreciate this as their first self produced EP was for more than two months best selling album at mp3.com. No surprise that many labels liked to sign this extraordinary band which decided finally for Limb Music. Their first full-length-CD was produced by Threshold's Karl Groom, member of another phantastic Prog Metal band. Showdow Keep will also cover 'Queen Of The Reich' on a soon to be released Queensryche tribute album.
