Killtime, Carefree, Last Millenium Suckers

Last Millenium Suckers Killtime are a Punk band from Rome (Italy) and they came to Luxemburg to play several concerts. On Friday, 6th April, they were playing at Café Crossfire in Luxemburg. But as I was afraid of too much traffic because of the festivities about the change of the monarch in Luxemburg, I preferred that day to stay in the calm South of Luxemburg. Killtime were supported that day by Opemol and Utter Chaos. On Saturday, 7th April, Killtime came to the South of Luxemburg, more precisely to the Café Del Corso in Dudelange. You'll read more details about this concert just a few ligns below. To finish their small Luxembourg tour, Killtime gave a third and last concert at the Elevator in Luxemburg city again. This time, they were supported by Timesickness and The Poshblokes, but I missed this gig due to private affairs.

Carefree The show in Dudelange started at about 10 pm with the Last Millenium Suckers, a sextett with two female singers. I saw them already a few months ago in Leudelange and liked their chaotic, but charming Punk attitude at once. Unfortunately, the circumstances for their gig weren't ideal today. Because the singers needed of course two microphones, the boxes weren't strong enough for that need and so the microphones weren't loud enough. The other two band which only had one singer weren't confronted to that problem. Other difficulties were that singer Jennifer had a cold and that drummer Piddy's arm was put in plaster until a few days before the concert. So it's understandable that they didn't have much time for rehearsing. But nevertheless, one of the most important facts of Punk music is fun. The band didn't have too much fun as Jennifer was saying: "Ech hu keng Loscht méi, komm mer halen op", but they continued as the spectators liked the music anyway. I'm sure that there next gig will take place under a better star.

Second band of the evening were Carefree, and their music is a mix between Punk, Pop, Ska, Hardcore, Emo. What's very unusual is the fact that they have a keyboard player in the band and this one even has a quite dominating part. Fast, but melodic songs are the typical trademarks of their music. I just know them for a few months, but some people were telling that they step more and more into the emotional direction. What they do seems to be quite popular to the fans. First of all, they reached the semi-finals at the Emergenza band contest. Secondly people went crazy, they were moshing, banding and even stagediving (although there was no stage) and looked like a mad crowd of cows suffering under BSE. Humour is also playing an important part in Carefree's music. They like to cover songs (for instance John Lennon's Imagine or Police's Every Breath You Take), but they play the original tracks always at 78 rpm. A very funny instrumental is the song were Punk roots collide with Bavarian Volksmusik. To me, Carefree are one of the most hopeful Punk or Emo or Ska, eh newcomer bands in Luxemburg.

Killtime Then it was time for Killtime. I was told that they were a classical Pop Punk band à la Buzzcocks. But to my ears, this Italian trio was a little bit harder. I thought that it was Snot or Street Punk, sounding absolutely British. At that moment, some people had already left the café or were staying outside because it was fucking hot inside. But the hard one's who didn't like to miss Killtime saw an intense Punk presentation. Again, people were stage diving and moshing, but the pub owner began to get nervous. Not that the music was too extreme to him. More disturbing was that one stagediver hit the wall with his dirty shoes or that a police car was passing along his pub in a very slow way. He thought that it was better to stop the concert. Luckily this happened only at a late moment of the gig. This was up to the taste to the usual clients of the café, namely low IQ prolls (as you can only find in Dudelange) with haircuts from the 80ies and fine moustaches. Instead they began singing songs by Wolle Petry, Germany's most brutal criminal since a man from the 40ies. Anyway it was nearly before 1 o'clock and I decided to go to bed before the ghosts do.
