Lewd Prank from Trier / Germany were
real jokers on their fourth release called '55 The Drive'. When you put the CD into your player,
the display is showing that it is containing 55 tracks and its playing time is exactly 55 minutes
and 55 seconds. Well laughed, but more important is the music and that isn't bad at all. To my
ears, '55 The Drive' has been so far the most mature CD by Lewd Prank. They don't sound anymore
like an average kiddie Punk band, but have developed into a far more complexe thing. The song
writing is well structured, elements of Punk, melodic Hardcore and even Emo fix here perfectly
well together. The first songs 'Barking At The Moon' and 'Disconnected' are faster tracks as
you may suppose from an opener. Sometimes you can compare them to Petrograd from Luxemburg,
especially on 'Boy'. 'There' shows Lewd Prank from their harder side, but they never get really
extreme. 'Dirty Water' is one of the most melodic track, '99' is pure and raw Emocore. As you
can read here, Lewd Prank really have put together a very diversified record. It's just a pity
that the band has to pause actually because the singer is studying in England. But this won't
last forever and they really are ready to become one of Germany's best Punk bands.
