East coast deathsters Incantation have been haunting the underground for more than a decade now, and they are still alive and kicking. I have to admit though that I have never been overly fond of their extremely brutal music, and have been following their career only very vaguely. The surprising thing is that I now own three Incantation records, and the only common musician is guitarist John McEntee. "The Infernal Storm" is apparently Incantation's fourth longplayer, and after having listened to it for several times, I had to agree with the info sheet. This is typical East Coast death metal. Unlike the technical Florida brand or the crunchier Sweden sound, these New Yorkers just bang away at it, even flirt with grind core element here and there, and just don't give a damn about melodies. Incantation are good musicians though, and there music is really ass-grippingly tight. So when I said before I am not overly fond of their music, I didn't mean these guys are bad. In fact they know exactly what they do, and they are damn good at it. So if you like bands like Immolation or Dying Fetus, you will also come to embrace Incantation.
