When I first listened to 'The Grand Grimoire' which was the second album by God Dethroned
from the Netherlands, I was excited and surprised at the same time. 18 months later, they
released their third CD called 'Bloody Blasphemy' and they are able to reach the same high
level as on their previous release. Of course God Dethroned didn't do revolutionary changes,
but this wasn't necessary because you won't find many bands which are able to play a mixture
of Black, Thrash and Death Metal with such quality and extreme speed. For the recordings they
haven't changed neither the studio nore the stuff and the result has been another killer
album with great production. The songs don't only contain speed, but sometimes also harmonic
guitar riffs and calming piano parts as it has been done on 'The Execution Protocol'. 'Soul
Capture 1542' is a surprisingly quiet some with some Gothic elements and it's about the legend
of the Flying Dutchman. Another great point of their music are the brutal and sick vocals by
mainman Henri Sattler. The CD booklet has again become a real artwork. The musicians look on
their pics like recently deceased people and have added sick comments to the photos: they claim
themselves responsible for the abduction of Archangel Gabriel or for the future murder of Pope
JP II. As the musicians are antichrists, you know what you can expect from the lyrics. The most
extreme example is the title track where some demons steal Jesus from the cross to eat him.
Bon appetit! Again God Dethroned have published an album with a too short duration, but more important is the fact that the CD contains nine hard songs who can hit like a bomb. |
