Double Dealer is a Japanese melodic Power Metal band consisting of five musicians who are either playing in Concerto Moon or Saber Tiger. Even if shouter Takenori Shimoyama and guitar player Norifumi Shima are the main men, Double Dealer is a real band an not just a project. Formed only in 1998, they took large profit from the Metal revival. Striking guitar solos, power riffs, hymn-like vocals and beating rhythms are actually a good recipe for being successful nowadays. The albums contains some real uptempo songs (especially the two first ones), but also mid-tempo songs (The Enemy, Too Young And Vane)and a citchy ballad (Deep Blue Sky). The debut album got already released in Japan in August 2000 and it got great reviews by the national press. Maybe because the musicians have chosen European idols. The vocals are a mixture of Ronnie James Dio and David Coverdale, the guitar players seems to be a huge fan of Yngwie J. Malmsteen and Ritchie Blackmore. Double Dealer are excellent songwriters and know how to play their instruments, but I really have some personal problems with the Metal hype and don't like listening to much to their CD, although I can appreciate their work.
