Dies Irae from Poland were already formed in 1992 when they started as a typical Death Metal band. Their musical inspirations were of course Morbid Angel and national heroes Vader. And so in 1997 founding member Mauser (guitar) joined Vader which also meant the split up for Dies Irae. Three years later, Mauser tries a Dies Irae comeback with musicians of Vader, Devilyn and Sceptic. The new album is called 'Immolated' and this title shows you already what you can expect from Dies Irae. They play a kind of fast and classical Death Metal, combined with some melodic guitar lines. The music is energigally and technically well played, which are trademarks of an excellent Death Metal band. Two songs also begin with Industrial like intros. Personally, I prefer this short output - which has no boring parts - to the last Vader record called 'Lithany'. A special CD-Rom bonus is a videoclip of 'Lion Of Knowledge', also well done. Dies Irae have signed a contract for four albums, and I hope that the three next ones may keep the level of this debut. |
