CLEAN STATE:
Scraping The Barrel

A year after the release of the 'Braincrusher' EP, Clean State have released their first full-length-CD called 'Scraping The Barrel'. On nine tracks, they present their proper definition of Neo Metal which has already been quite popular in Luxemburg. You just have to look at Clean State's results at the Emergenza contest. The songs got recorded in the band's basement studio and the sound is quite excellent. Contrarary to their live appearances, Clean State are not as fast on CD as they are on stage. But this shouldn't mean that they are not brutal enough on CD. Loud guitars, a brutal drum play and rough vocals are authentic Metal trademarks. Two songs (Church Of Lies, Between The Frontlines) were already present on last year's EP, but now they got played in new versions. Quite surprising is the quiet 7 minute midtemps song 'Wretched', but so Clean State can prove that their Metal repertoire isn't limited at all. Clean State are on the best way to belong to the top of Luxemburgian Metal. But you shouldn't take their Blues song 'Cider Bros.inc.Blues' too seriously. It's about two weird brothers who have a radio show on Radio ARA and an e-zine called DisAgreement. Very funny and amusing.
