True music fans know that Sweden's finest isn't ABBA, but that there are a bunch of real great bands on the Burning Heart label. The fourth edition of the Cheap Shots series again presents 24 excellent punkish bands. I suppose that their best selling act is Millencolin as they were allowed to present two songs on this compilaiton. In general, you can hear amazing music of different styles like Melodic Punk (Millencolin, No Fun At All, Satanic Surfers), Hardcore (59 Times The Pain, Section 8, Raised Fist, Refused, Breach, Nine), Rock'n'Roll (The Hives, Voice Of A Generation, The Peepshows), Punk Rock (Bombshell Rocks, Puffball, The Business, Guttersnipe, The Products), Ska (The Cigarres, Liberator, Chickenpox). Then you still have the soulish Monster, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, which is the band of the former Refused singer, Samiam go more into Alternative Rock and Randy do even sound a little poppish. Difficult to believe that all those bands are coming from Sweden. With that team, the North won't have problems to rise again. |
