Cautery from Vienna / Austria had
been founded in the early 90's, and in 1995, their first demo tape
'Sophisticated Body Adornment' got a review in the DisAgreement fanzine nr. 14 where they were
described as a Death Groove band. During the five following years, Cautery have developped into
a new direction and the three songs of this EP are an excellent mixture between Hardcore and
Noise. The production is of course on a much higher level than on the tape, but the songwriting
is real smashing. Each song is a gathering of such different ideas, instrumentated on an extremely
aggressive and brutal way. Even if the speed is not always at a maximum level, this music
definitely isn't any kind of easy listening, but fans of Psychocore acts like Neurosis or
Today Is The Day will appreciate what the five Austrians are playing. The EP also contains a
videoclip of a fourth song; excellent song and sound quality, but the camera artwork is only
average. At the end I'd like to add that 'On Noise' (what a typical name !!!) is the
