They were certainly not one of the first grind bands on this planet, but when they appeared, out of the ashes of Anthrax and Nuclear Assault, they were so overwhelmingly mean that the fans loved them immediately. 90ies grind core WAS Brutal Truth, they were the most extreme there was, but unfortunately disbanded in October 1998. Many people have been very sad, but this last double-CD will help us survice the Brutal Truth-less times. The first CD contains a live recording that was taped in Australia 1998. The sound quality and the songs are all great. You will notice that the band had more of a punk edge to them when playing live. The secons CD should be interesting for all collectors of rare stuff, because it contains a lot of coverversions, Japanese-only songs and other mysterious stuff. I wonder what the guys will do now, because I doubt that anyone of them alone will get a new band that gets such a cult following like Brutal Truth. What more can I possibly say? Buy this CD, because it shows like no other of their releases what they were standing for. It's a perfect way to say goodbye. And for the collectors of cover versions: check out for songs originally played by S.O.B., The Germs, Black Sabbath. YDI, Agathocles, The Melvins, Nausea, M.D.C., Boredoms, Celtic Frost and finally Sun Ra (?!?). Apparently you can even download an exclusive bonus track ('Let's Go To War') at this address. |
