Since 1992, Avulsed has belonged to the most famous Spanish Death Metal bands. What they play on their recent CD 'Stabwound Orgasm' is again more than convincing. Old School Death Metal gets combined with ultrabrutal high speed parts as well as with melodic breaks. Traditional Death Metal fans will like this second album by Avulsed as it is a journey back to the roots of that kind of music. The vocals by Dave Rotten are real growls as they are supposed to be for a good Death Metal band. This CD was recorded at the Spacelabs studios in Germany and mixed by no one else than James Murphy. Useless to mention that the sound is enormous. Even as the album is lasting nearly one hour, listening to it is never annoying. I just wonder if Avulsed plan again an album with electronic remixes if it has been the case on the debut 'Eminence Is Putrescence'. But until we know the answer, we should enjoy this piece of timeless Death Metal. |
